FAQ
A radiator is simply a heat exchanger that exchange thermal energy from one media (hot water) to another (air in the room). Each radiator is sized according to the size of the room in order to provide enough heat transfer for a maintaining a comfortable temperature in each room. Our radiators are automated in a sense that they are fitted with a thermostat unit that regulates amount of hot water flowing through a radiator, thus maintaining the desired temperature (typically 18C – 23C).
Gas central heating consists of three main components:
- A boiler that converts fuel (natural gas, LPG, Oil, paraffin etc.) into heat.
- Piping and valves that conduct hot water to outlets and radiators.
- Radiators that heat rooms.

It depends on many factors and your choices. Contact us for a free estimate. To give you an idea, it ranges from 100,000.00 upwards for an average 200sqm house.
There are many reasons why gas central heating is superior to electric underfloor heating:
- Gas supply is more reliable. Power shortages are with us to stay for at least the next five years.
- Natural gas supply is not only more reliable then electricity, it is cheaper too. Average saving on 200 sqm house is in range of R500.00—R1000.00 per month.
- It is much easier and cheaper to install it into an existing house then underfloor heating (no need to lift the floors, installation can be done in day or two).
- In case of electric failure, you will still have hot water supply if you use a small battery for the boiler.
- Gas heating is, in general, more eco-friendly then electricity and it can be supplemented with a solar powered water heaters for even more eco-friendly system.
A heating engineer will be able to very accurately calculate the exact room requirements, however the following calculation gives a very good approximation. Find the volume of the room in cubic meters (length x width x height)
- Lounges and dining rooms multiply by 50.
- Bedrooms multiply by 40.
- Common areas and kitchens multiply by 30.
- Bathrooms multiply by 90.
- For a room with lots of windows add 20%.
This will give you the output of any radiator in Watts. We will let you know the heat output of any of our radiators, so you can choose a single radiator or a number of radiators whose outputs add up to the heat you ne
